Your phone is the trackpad.
Control your computer’s mouse and keyboard from any phone — over your local Wi-Fi, or end-to-end encrypted from anywhere through remote.zlef.fr. An Android app, or any phone browser. No account.
How it works
1 · Run the agent on your computer
A single portable binary. It injects mouse and keyboard events into your OS — nothing else runs in the background.
2 · Scan the QR code
The agent shows a QR. Scan it with your phone’s camera to open the remote in your mobile browser. Nothing to install on the phone.
3 · Take control
Use the touch trackpad, tap to click, two-finger scroll, and a full keyboard with media keys and shortcuts.
Two ways to connect
Local network
The agent runs its own tiny web server. Your phone connects straight to your computer over Wi-Fi — traffic never leaves your network. Lowest latency.
Remote (remote.zlef.fr)
Away from home? The agent pairs through this relay using a 6-character room code. Every keystroke and movement is encrypted on your phone and only decrypted by your computer — the relay forwards opaque bytes and can never read them.
The relay can’t see your input
A random 256-bit key is generated by the agent and embedded only in the QR code’s URL fragment — the part after “#” that browsers never send to a server. Your phone reads it locally. Every frame is sealed with AES-256-GCM. remote.zlef.fr only ever sees a room code and ciphertext.
What’s inside
Precision trackpad
Relative pointer movement with acceleration, tap-to-click, right-click, drag-lock and two-finger scroll.
Full keyboard
Type naturally, send special keys, modifier combos (Ctrl/Alt/Cmd) and OS shortcuts.
Media & display controls
Volume, mute, play/pause, track skip — plus a screen-brightness slider on computers with a backlight. Your phone becomes the remote for the couch.
Live screen view
See the computer’s screen in real time and tap it like a touchscreen — tap to click, double-tap, two-finger right-click, drag to point. Multi-monitor? Switch displays with one tap. Choose Low, Balanced or Sharp; frames are end-to-end encrypted too.
Open & auditable
No account, no ads, nothing sold. The crypto is standard WebCrypto + Go stdlib, and the source is public.
The phone app
ZlefRemote for Android is a real app: it keeps the session alive with the screen off, puts your computer’s play/skip/volume on the lock screen without pausing the phone’s own music, reads pairing codes with the camera, and can hand the volume rocker to the computer. Your device keys live in the Android Keystore.
It is not on Google Play, so Android will ask you to allow this one install. The app updates itself from here afterwards.
No iPhone version
There is no iOS build and none is coming for now: publishing one needs a Mac to compile it and a paid Apple developer account to sign it, and this project has neither. On an iPhone, open remote.zlef.fr in Safari — the web client works, minus the lock-screen controls, the background session and the volume-rocker capture.
Prefer no install?
The web client is still there and still free of any install — scan the agent’s QR with any phone browser. What it cannot do is survive a screen-off, hold the lock-screen controls without pausing your own music, or read the volume buttons.
Download
Pick your platform. The agent is a self-contained executable — run it, scan, done.
On first run the agent asks whether to expose itself on your local network or pair through the encrypted relay.
Driving from a laptop instead of a phone? Open the SAME pairing link on a computer and you get the desktop remote right in the browser — the other machine’s screen, your mouse, your keyboard, your clipboard, nothing to install. Prefer a real app (it captures every shortcut, Ctrl+W and Alt+Tab included)? Desktop app for Linux · Desktop app for Windows · Desktop app for macOS
On Windows the app lives in your notification area — click the icon, pick a mode, scan. The installer bundles the agent. Just the agent (command line) · Portable .zip (no installer)
On Xfce? There's a panel plugin — start a session and show the QR right from your taskbar. Get the Xfce panel plugin
